BookTok Books That ARE Worth the Hype
We've all seen the countless amount of books that go through BookTok on a daily basis, but which ones are actually worth it? In this post I'm going to go through the books that I was convinced to read that I genuinely loved!
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

Now, I know a lot of you will have seen/heard of this book and I honestly cannot rave about it enough! The story follows a fragile Violet Sorrengail who is forced to join the elite legion of dragon riders. Words cannot describe the emotional rollercoaster that this book will take you on. I laughed, I cried, I raged, I swooned. If you are undecided on this one, you need to stop resisting and read it before the second one (Iron Flame) is released early November!
Circe by Madeline Miller

This beautiful story is a retelling of a few Greek Myths, most focused on The Odyssey. Circe is born 'strange', not acting like her father or her mother and end up becoming an outcast, toeing the line between the mortal realm and the realm of the Gods. The writing style is beyond amazing and this is simply one that if you like mythology, underdog stories, or anything wholly atmospheric - you need to read.
Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

HILARIOUS! This is something that us fantasy geeks have dreamed of. Not only are we finally getting to see the story of someone who works below the 'main character' but we get to see the brilliant relationship that they have and how it progresses. I read this in one sitting and nothing could have torn me away from it!
One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig

Underhyped by miles. Whilst this book hasn't been as prominent on BookTok, it should be! If you like a cosy, gothic, fantasy read then you're going to love this! It's got everything you could want; fog, mist, creepy forests, monsters, dreams and nightmares. I guarantee this book will kickstart your spooky season TBR!
Delilah Green Doesn't Care by Ashley Herring Blake

The best LGBTQ+ romance I have read this year! It's a real-world, acquaintances-to-lovers, witty, sexy romcom - do you still need convincing?
Bunny by Mona Awad

In this delightfully eerie book, we follow Samantha - someone who hates all things 'cliquey'. But when she gets an invite...
Whilst officially a horror, the satire in this book is glorious, you'll be both scared and crying laughing when you're done!
If He Had Been With Me By Laura Nowlin

What if I had kissed him first? What if he had asked me on a date? What if they never dated?
So many questions, so many wonderous possibilities. Unrequited love can be one of the most difficult things to deal with, especially when you're still growing up, and even more so when you're friends with the one you wish for, but what if...?
